STATE OF BLACK SUSTAINABILITY REPORT: 2024
STATE OF BLACK SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
Due to an absence of community-owned data related to the impacts and solutions around climate and enviornmental challenges in the Black community and across the Afrikan-diaspora, Black Sustainability, Inc. has developed a State of Black Sustainability Report (SBSR).
The State of Black Sustainability Report is based on the content from 2016-2023 Black Sustainability Summits, focus groups and interviews of Black Sustainability Members and practitioners across 12 Industry Houses.
The full SBSR, along with twelve (12) individual Industry House summaries are available for download.
LIVING BLACK & GREEN: AR CLIMATE MURAL
The State of Black Sustainability Report does not have to stay on the page.
Living Black & Green is our augmented reality education layer that brings
SBSR data to life on an existing public mural in Atlanta.
Point a phone at the wall and local climate data on heat, flooding,
and air and water quality comes alive, layered with the voices of
environmental leaders and residents and clear, hyperlocal
steps to protect community well being.
It is the first stop on our planned Southeastern Black Sustainability AR Walking Tour,
turning public murals across the region into free, permanent classrooms
at the intersection of data, climate, and race.

Core Writing Team
Our core writing team is the group of authors who worked tirelessly to prepare the State of Black Sustainability Report. This team consisted of the Black Sustainability Research and Development team, HBCU and MSI graduate student researchers, research consultants and contributions and wisdom from past Black Sustainability Summit presenters and Industry House members.
