Sustainability Pavilion at The Original Collard Greens Cultural Festival

August 20, 2024 (Snellville, GA) – Black Sustainability, Inc. is hosting the Sustainability Pavilion at The Original Collard Greens Cultural Festival.


Black Sustainability, Inc. (BSI) is proud to announce its partnership for the 7th year with The Original Collard Greens Cultural Festival (OCGCF) to ensure that this year’s festival on September 28, 2024 has culturally-relevant sustainability education and vendors adhere to a zero-waste commitment. The Sustainability Pavilion will serve as a central hub for showcasing sustainable practices led by Black and Green organizations in the Black Sustainability Network. 


Sustainability Pavilion Activities:

  • All Things Black and Green: Learn from BSI about Black and Green practitioners around the world and meet their network of partners and initiatives benefiting the Black community

    • Mo’ Greens: Heirloom Collard Project: 1:00PM Join the Ujamaa Cooperative Farming Alliance to learn about collards, demonstrate urban agriculture solutions, the need for increased plant biodiversity AND grab some collard plants.

    • Ride & Drive an Electric Vehicle: 1:00-6:00PM Meet the Electric Black Futures team and sign up to test drive an EV and offer feedback on e-mobility in Black communities

    • Shoe Waste Deconstruction: 4:00PM Join us for a unique showcase at the pavilion with deconstructed shoes and learn about a manufacturing partnership between Shoe Waste + Black Sustainability, Inc. focused on deconstructing shoe waste to create building insulation as a pathway to green jobs in the salvage economy.

    • Decarbonization Group (Jones Sustainable Solutions Group + Gridchain AI): Energy Efficiency Access: Increase your awareness of the importance of energy audits, current programs and a gift card drawing will take place at 5pm ET 

    • Waste Reduction: Zero-Waste Education: Learn sustainable practices, the health impacts of poor packaging, and eco-friendly packaging options, including edible packaging. 


Each of these activities led by Black Sustainability Network members helps to reduce our waste, exposes the lay person to clean energy initiatives, electric and agricultural workshops and education, all while promoting community education.
