Meet Zieair Clinton: 22 Years Old and Already Wiring His Way Into the Green Economy

Zieair Clinton isn't waiting for permission to build something big. At 22, he's already a co-owner, an independent contractor, and now a solar trainee  and he sees all three as pieces of the same long game.

Born and raised on Atlanta's Westside, Zieair co-owns Sweet Sol, a cooperative that makes and sells hot sauce, and works as an independent contractor with Eco-PARADIGM. Music, community, and pushing past his comfort zone are what drive him and it was Eco-PARADIGM that first pointed him toward GRID Alternatives.

"I jumped on the opportunity because I want to build new skills, better myself, and take advantage of opportunities like this while I'm young," he says, "especially since experiences like this don't come around often."

Keeping Every Door Open

Ask Zieair whether he's headed toward entrepreneurship or employment after training, and his answer is refreshingly honest: he's not choosing yet, because he's still stacking skills.

"I'm interested in both entrepreneurship and employment in the solar industry because I still have a lot I want to learn and skills I need to develop," he says.

That openness isn't indecision, it's strategy. Zieair's long-term goal is building a sustainable co-op that creates opportunities and a positive future for youth, and he sees solar training as directly feeding that vision, wherever the next step happens to lead.

What Makes Zieair Stand Out

Zieair's case for himself starts with what he's already proven he can do.

"A solar company should hire me because of the experience, work ethic, and values I've developed through working with Eco-PARADIGM," he says.

That work has given him exposure to sustainability projects, hands-on fieldwork, teamwork, and real community impact  backed up by OSHA and IBT20 certifications that show he takes safety and professionalism seriously.

But what really sets him apart, he says, is his attitude.

"What makes me stand out in the Green Economy is my willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to work that creates long-term positive change."

His team knows him for moving diligently and efficiently, picking up new skills fast, adapting under pressure, and staying dependable no matter how fast-paced the environment gets.

A Resume Beyond His Years

For someone just 22, Zieair's skill set already spans an unusual range: sales and customer relations, operations and workflow coordination, teamwork, problem solving, leadership, and community engagement, alongside hands-on field support and safety compliance knowledge.

He brings real entrepreneurship experience from co-owning Sweet Sol  food production, sales, and business development  plus independent contracting experience through ECO Paradigm. Add in strong time management, a fast learning curve, and a genuine passion for mentorship and sustainable impact, and it's easy to see why he moves quickly between rooms most people his age haven't entered yet.

Why This Training, Why Now

Zieair signed up because growth, sustainability, and community are the throughlines of everything he does  from leading sales and operations at Sweet Sol to hands-on project work with ECO Paradigm.

"This training stood out to me because I want to gain new skills, expand my knowledge of the solar and green economy industries, and continue pushing myself outside my comfort zone," he says. "I'm young, motivated, and know there's still a lot I want and need to learn."

So far, the IBT120 program has covered orientation and workplace expectations, safety practices, construction basics, conduit bending, photovoltaics, and the fundamentals of solar panels and electricity building his understanding of job site safety, construction practices, electrical systems, and how solar energy actually works.

Two Things Everyone Should Know

Zieair sees solar as more than clean power. "Solar energy is not just about clean power, it also creates jobs, career paths, and economic opportunities for communities while helping build a more sustainable future," he says. And he's quick to widen the lens beyond panels: "Sustainability is bigger than solar panels. It's about how we use resources, reduce waste, think long term, and make choices that positively impact our environment, communities, and future generations."

Solar, Explained Like You're Five

"Solar energy is like a plant eating sunlight to grow, but instead of growing food, solar panels 'eat' sunlight and turn it into energy that powers things like lights, TVs, and phones," Zieair says. "It's kind of like putting ingredients together to make a meal, the sun is the main ingredient, and solar panels turn it into something useful for us every day."

What's Next

When training wraps, Zieair plans to keep building his knowledge and hands-on experience while exploring opportunities across Atlanta's clean energy and green economy. "I want to apply the skills I've learned through the program, continue developing professionally, and explore opportunities in solar, sustainability, and green workforce development," he says, all of it in service of the bigger vision he's building: sustainable opportunities, community impact, and a stronger future for youth in Atlanta.
