Black Sustainability, Inc. proudly announces the upcoming 9th Annual Black Sustainability Summit, set to take place from October 11-13, 2024. As the premier assembly of sustainability practitioners of African descent, the annual Black Sustainability Summit continues its legacy of providing a dynamic platform that carries on our tradition of offering a stimulating forum for community-driven solutions, learning, and cooperation. This year, in addition to member presentations and participatory impact funding, the zero-waste summit is excited to produce an innovative mixed-media art exhibit on our inaugural State of Black Sustainability Report to communicate data through a somatic experience.
The days of having an 85-page report at the top of your to-do list are long gone. Black Sustainability, Inc.’s research team has reimagined how to effectively share data through an immersive, interactive exhibit that showcases the results of the State of Black Sustainability Report (SBSR) without turning a page. The SBSR exhibit includes various art mediums reflective of pervasive environmental social issues and community-driven scalable solutions, vegan treats, and mocktails that invigorate health and wellness. Expect to explore works on Afrofuturism, sustainable fashion, water, waste, agriculture, eco-housing and more to ensure accessibility, plain language translations of the climate impacts to those often left out of the conversations. This will be an engaging, educational experience for the entire family.
Over three days, attendees will engage with sustainability practitioners and leaders from around the world, as they delve into hands-on workshops, impactful reports, collective art making and actionable strategies for implementing locally-driven climate and environmental solutions. The summit stands as a beacon of progress and unity, fostering a multi-day zero-waste event where like-minded individuals can connect and collaborate.
A portion of ticket purchases contribute toward the RBG Impact Fund to support member projects and the remaining percentage toward organizational capacity to bolster Black Sustainability-led initiatives.

About the Black Sustainability Summit: Culture as the Foundation of Sustainability
Each year the Black Sustainability Summit highlights voices and work of African descent rooted in preservation and honoring indigenous worldviews across sustainability fields: Alternative Economics, Alternative Energy, Reparative Agriculture & Land Management; Community Development; Climate/Environmental Justice; Education & Cultural Preservation; Eco-Building/Housing; Green Lifestyle/Fashion, Preparedness, Wholistic Health & Nutrition; Waste; & Water.
Through our work we ensure Black communities across the global south (all of which disproportionately suffer the negative effects of climate change and environmental degradation, institutionalized racism and injected oppression) receive culturally relevant solutions to local challenges. We work with members of our network to provide these solutions and contribute towards greater, sustainable impact.
