GRID Alternatives

Our Partner, GRID Alternatives

Black Sustainability, Inc. has partnered with GRID Alternatives to bring a 4-week immersive solar installation and maintenance training to the metro-Atlanta area, equipping our community with real, job-ready skills in the fastest-growing sector of the green economy.

GRID Alternatives is a national nonprofit whose mission is to build community-powered solutions that advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy. Since its founding, GRID has trained thousands of people through programs like its Installation Basics Training, SolarCorps Fellowship, and Women in Solar initiative, creating pathways into the solar workforce for communities that have too often been left out of the clean energy economy.

Together, BSI and GRID Alternatives are bringing that same mission home to metro Atlanta!

Why It Matters!

The clean energy transition is creating thousands of new jobs, but Black communities have historically been underrepresented in the solar workforce, even in the neighborhoods most impacted by rising energy costs.

This training closes that gap directly: putting technical certifications, hands-on installation experience, and a path into a stable, well-paying trade into the hands of our community.

Every graduate who enters the solar workforce is one more person reducing energy burden, building generational wealth, and proving that the clean energy economy belongs to all of us.
