Black
Sustainability Report
Currently, there is a large gap in the knowledge sector about where Black people are, regarding plans to solve interdisciplinary sustainability issues and build resilient communities. Thankfully, Black Sustainability's members have been providing this information annually via the Black Sustainability Summit for a decade. The State of Black Sustainability Report offers a foundation of understanding about the collective strategies that we should take to create a sustainable and wholly-fulfilling future, created for us, by us. Our aim is to offer community members a baseline on which to build their work, so that we are not starting at ground zero, but rather building off of the knowledge of our ancestors, mistakes from the past and practical applications in modernity together, in community.
Membership in BSN (The Black Sustainability Network) offers many benefits, one of which is the opportunity to contribute to the report’s development bi-annually, and to receive attribution in the SBSReport for their contributions. The 2024 State of Black Sustainability Report share-backs were presented formally and creatively as a curated art exhibit during our 9th Annual Black Sustainability Summit. The official report is in it's final formatting stages and is awaiting rollout HERE.

Apprenticeship Program
Black Sustainability is partnering with multiple Atlanta- and Georgia-based community organizations to run a Home Electrification Leapfrog Program, through a nationally Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) process. This gives local community members access to job specialization in the clean energy field, which they can use to improve their communities. Employers in the Black Sustainability Network will work with us to develop a customized work process appropriate to participants' strengths and needs, and then follow that process to provide on-the-job training to apprentices in the program. Our RAP pilot launches SUMMER 2025.
